How they track and trend points from different systems to see if they are running efficiently. For instance, how much harder do our building systems need to run at different levels of temp and humidity? Are the existing building sensors accurate? What about solar loads? Does our Optimum start work? Where does all the power go in the building? What is all of this stuff running at night? How about water, and natural gas?

Case study of a utility reduction program in JDSUs energy intensive Santa Rosa manufacturing site.
Presented by:
Robert Ule, Global Energy Manager, JDSU

JDSUs Global Energy Manager, Robert Ule, will present a case study of how an energy intensive manufacturing site implemented an effective utility reduction program. This case study shows how a balanced approach is required to obtain real savings in facilities were energy consumption is driven by the manufacturing process. Four approaches with practical examples will be covered; behavior change, equipment efficiency, energy procurement, and rebate programs. By integrating these four approaches with a cross-functional team the Santa Rosa manufacturing site was able to reduce the utility costs by 13.5% without impacting production.

Automated Demand Response: A Look at the Technology and Incentives
Presented by:
Andy Taylor, Owner, Applied Power Technologies

The traditional process for demand response (DR) has been that the utility sends out a signal and the customer manually takes action to reduce load. The State of California is pushing for customers to adopt technology to automate the process i.e., an automatic signal is sent, and software/hardware in the customer's systems reads this signal and automatically initiates the DR controls. Learn what is needed to implement Auto DR and about available incentives.
